We were so tired because we had to run back in order to get to the car before sunset.

i LOVE Tasmania

cape raoul
the pink dot is me..... .around the time when Joel and I were lost and could not find the way back to the trail!
A random dog decided to follow us on the trail, and when we got lost we had to fight through the bush.... .it was too thick for the dog to manage.
we made it JUST before the rain came, BEAUTIFUL cape raoul

we went all the way to the end....man that was a long day!

Joel's visit to Brisbane

we visited Southbank Parklands,
kangaroo aisle.....
Mt. Coo-tha,

and sleepy Conrad.
My first cuddle!!!
My brother Joel came out to visit for a couple weeks, of which only 4 days were spent in Brisbane!.....lookout Sydney and Tasmania, here we come!

Some of my close friends: Audra, Ann, Melissa, and Kristi.

I hosted a Pancake Breakfast at my flat to raise money for the eradication of polio, one of Rotary's projects, partnering with UNICEF and other organizations. There are only 4 countries left still at endemic status and Rotary International is encouraging all the clubs to run local campaigns to raise money for the vaccines. It was a delightful morning!

Royston (friend from church) and I getting an early start with the pancakes.....

It was a great turn-out, with approximately 28 people in my small apartment. We raised $226!!!

trying to play the didgeridoo....... it's much harder than it appears!

Enjoying the last week of my "winter" holidays the best possible way....relaxing on the beach. One of my friends and fellow scholar Clare went with me to Byron Bay, the most easterly point of Australia's mainland about two hours south of Brisbane. As you can see in the following photos, it was an amazing and beautiful trip.

Taken on the 'hike' up to the lighthouse where we spotted heaps of humpback whales and dolphins. Unfortunately, I didn't catch any on camera. It was an amazing time!

Clare and I made our own boomerangs at this Aboriginal Art workshop

finish product.

Cape Byron light house

I visited Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo where I got to pet koalas, kangaroos and a crocodile! (not the one in the picture! It was a baby one.)

Tasmanian Devil....... who knew they were so cuddly?

KOALAS!!!! Yes, they are sweeter than I had anticipated

Of all things I thought I might see in Australia, an Arkansas Razorbacks fan never crossed my mind! GO HOGS! (no, the cap was not a gift from me--yes, Matthew is Australian)

CRIKEY!

EMUS running wild!!! For two weeks during my winter holidays, I went with some friends to a farm outback Queensland in Blackall. It was an amazing time with lots of new experiences. I have posted a few pics on this blog, but if you're keen to see more go to

Aboriginal art in a cave. This symbolizes the sun (divine father).

For some reason, I had a hard time sleeping peacefully with this lovely visitor hanging around... is it because I'm a girl?

Eating kangaroo for dinner! It's quite tasty....kinda like turkey
