the pink dot is me..... .around the time when Joel and I were lost and could not find the way back to the trail!
A random dog decided to follow us on the trail, and when we got lost we had to fight through the bush.... .it was too thick for the dog to manage.
we made it JUST before the rain came, BEAUTIFUL cape raoul

I hosted a Pancake Breakfast at my flat to raise money for the eradication of polio, one of Rotary's projects, partnering with UNICEF and other organizations. There are only 4 countries left still at endemic status and Rotary International is encouraging all the clubs to run local campaigns to raise money for the vaccines. It was a delightful morning!

Enjoying the last week of my "winter" holidays the best possible way....relaxing on the beach. One of my friends and fellow scholar Clare went with me to Byron Bay, the most easterly point of Australia's mainland about two hours south of Brisbane. As you can see in the following photos, it was an amazing and beautiful trip.

We sea kayaked out to South Straddy to camp. The total trip was about a 20 K paddle. Anne and I did try a single kayak for about 4 K but decided we felt "safer" in the double. Though it does not look like it in this photo, we paddled through some rough waves and thought we might die..All's well that ends well!
